Pack Committee Chair

Coordinates and manages the Pack Leadership team, assigns duties to Pack Committee Members, takes care of recharter; works closely with the Chartered Organization Representative to provide appropriate facilities for Pack meetings; maintains Pack records or delegates to appropriate leader; maintains or delegates care of Pack property; facilitate the transition of Webelos Scouts into Boy Scouts

Cubmaster
3-5h/month
Responsible for the monthly Pack meeting which includes all Scouts, Leaders and families from all Dens.  While the Pack Committee develops and funds the Pack programs, the Cubmaster is the one who actually runs the programs.  The Cubmaster also works with the Pack Committee to develop programs for the Pack and facilitate activities that help the Scouts advance and keep Scouting fun.  Help support the Pack Committee Chair with program planning monthly, support the Den Leaders as needed

Chartered Organization Representative
Assigned by local Scout Council – not a parent in the Pack usually

Responsibilities for this position are designated by the Cubmaster and can include helping the Cubmaster as needed, participate in Pack meetings, support Pack Committee activities and Pack events, support the Den Leaders as needed

Pack Secretary
1-2 h/month
Keep informed of Cub Scouting literature and helping new Den Leaders understand what resources are available; maintain up-to-date information on membership, leadership, attendance for Pack events; maintain inventory of Pack property; handle correspondence for the Pack; keep notes on business conducted at Pack Leadership meetings, recording items that either need follow up or are important to document for the history of the Pack; notify leaders of Pack Leadership (including Den Leaders) meetings and other activities

Pack Treasurer
1-2h/month
Help the Pack Committee and Cubmaster establish a sound financial program for the Pack with a budget plan; maintain a bank account in the Pack’s name and arrange for all transactions to be signed by any 2 of the Cubmaster, Pack Committee Chair, Pack  Secretary, Pack Treasurer; approve all budget expenditures after approval by the Pack Committee Chair; collect dues and provide receipts; keep up-to-date financial records.

Pack Advancement Coordinator
1-2 h/month
Help plan and conduct advancement recognition and/or ceremonies; monitor advancement reports and purchase necessary items at the BSA Scouting store.

Pack Trainer
1h or less/month
Orient parents of new Pack members; monitor training for all leaders; coordinate Youth Protection Training for all adults in the Pack, especially the Leaders.

Pack Outings Coordinator
Variable based on time of year but average 1-2 h/month
Help the Cubmaster plan and arrange for the outdoor activities; arrange for permits when required; locate new picnic or camping areas; plan for first aid emergencies; help Webelos Den Leaders plan overnight camp outs with equipment as needed; ensure that at least 1 adult has completed Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) training before any pack overnight event as 1 BALOO-trained adult must be present at any overnight event

Pack Membership and Reregistration Coordinator
Variable – heavier at the beginning of the school year with little time commitment later in the year
Prepare reregistration paperwork and coordinate the new-Scout registration process; work with the Pack Committee to recruit new Scouts; consider visiting new Scouts’ families to orient them to Pack function and review the Bobcat requirements as well as the “Parent Guide” to safe Scouting – help parents understand the need for their participation in Scouting.

Popcorn Kernel/Fundraising Chair
Variable hours mostly early in the year 
Work with the Den Leaders to coordinate fundraising for the Pack (Popcorn sales for this Pack); provide opportunities for Scouts to do Fundraising

 

Positions that are extremely helpful

Public Relations Coordinator
1-2h/month 
Develop service projects in schools and the community; promote family participation in Pack and Council events; consider a monthly or quarterly newsletter to guide new families, inform families of upcoming events and create a sense of unity among members of the Pack family

New Member Coordinator
Variable – heavier earlier in the school year and lighter at the end
Welcome new families and help orient them to the Pack and Scouting.

Friends of Scouting Chair
Less than 1h/month 
Facilitate communication and involvement with Friends of Scouting.
