Hello community!
Let us introduce you to pack 490! We serve youth K-5th (boys and girls!) within and surrounding Olentangy local schools.
Like most packs, we are entirely parent led. Therefore, activities are chosen based on the unique interests of our scouts and their families.
Dens (your child's age group) meet one-two times a month, and as a pack (all dens) once a month - with exciting activities planned throughout the year.
We are a super active pack that enjoys getting into nature and exploring the outdoors.
We also love to incorporate fun Cub Scout traditions such as camping, fishing, archery, hiking, rock climbing, rocket-launching along with the Pinewood Derby, Popcorn Show & Sell and so much more!
To learn more about us please contact our recruitment chair, Becca Yanity at becryan614@gmail.com.
We look forward to meeting you and your scout soon!
Since 1930, the Boy Scouts of America has helped youth of Cub Scouts age. Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the 10 purposes of Cub Scouting:
- Character Development
- Spiritual Growth
- Good Citizenship
- Sportsmanship & Fitness
- Family Understanding
- Respectful Relationships
- Personal Achievement
- Friendly Service
- Fun & Adventure
- Preparation for Boy Scouts
The Cub Scouts of America colors are blue and gold. They have special meaning, which will help youth see beyond the fun of Cub Scouting to its ultimate goals. The blue stands for truth and spirituality, steadfast loyalty, and the sky above. The gold stands for warm sunlight, good cheer and happiness.
As a youth begins the Boy Scout Trail, he or she joins other boys or girls the same age. A youth can start the scouting program from 5 (starting kindergarten) to 17 years old.
The Bobcat rank is the first rank earned by Cub Scouts, no matter which grade they begin scouting, except for kindergarten Lion Scouts. After earning the Bobcat rank, the youth then begins earning an age-base rank. The Cub Scout age program is for kindergarten through 3rd graders - Lion scouts, Tiger scouts, Wolf scouts, and Bear scouts. After completing Bear scout requirements, scouts begin their Webelos program, and finish Cub Scouting with the Arrow of Light.
Cub Scouting is…
Fun for the whole family. In Scouting, boys and girls start with their best right now selves and grow into their very best future selves. It’s fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and for life.
Cub Scout Pack 490 is part of the Delaware District, in the Simon Kenton Council. We are a program of Boy Scouts of America. We are a Family Pack, which means we accept both boys and girls. It is also inclusive of all family members, siblings included at all event and outings.
